Fog makes the bridge disappear,
disguises the bayou,
conceals the buildings beyond it.
Fog muffles traffic noise,
hushes gulls' calls,
shushes barking dogs.
Fog spangles spiderwebs,
plays tic-tac-toe on window screens,
softens the view through my glasses.
