Thank you, Ramona and Jama! Here in Wisconsin, only the bravest (and most sheltered) daffodils are blooming outside. We're happy to find them in stores so early in spring!

I never thought much about daffodils before, but they represent the local Cancer Foundation, and ever since my dad was diagnosed with cancer last month, I've found an extra level of joy in their bright yellow sunshine. When faced with the unpredictable reality of life, you really realise the importance of slowing down and enjoying all the everyday wonders that nature provides, like a cheery, sunshine yellow bunch of daffodils on a bright spring morning.

Liz, thank you! I started the poem when I woke up yesterday--the flowers were the first thing I saw, at least once I had coffee in my hand. The second stanza came to me much later as I walked the dog. Funny how that works sometimes!
